Breaking Development 2013

This year I decided to hit up the Breaking Development conference in San Diego. I have been actively working with mobile more and more at work, and wanted to find a conference in which I could see where mobile was going and see how people were dealing with the diversity of devices out there. Based on the the topics, I knew this would be another design heavy conference, and I also looked forward to seeing more of that world, as I tend to work more in the back end.

Needless to say, I got a lot out of this conference. For one thing, some of the people I met(like Ben Callahan(@BenCallahan), Jason Grigsby(@grigs)and James Williamson(@jameswillweb)) reminded me how much I “got off track” with some of my career goals. For one I was starting to blog a bit in the mid 2000s, and share things I’ve noticed in my various work environments and dabbling at home. Life happens sometimes, and I not only stopped blogging, but I ended up losing the site I was blogging on. I kept saying “I should start doing that again”, but time moves quickly, especially with kids, and now it’s 2013 and I haven’t restarted that process. This changes today.

My next few posts will covers some of the topics I heard about at the conference and my take on them.
